Almanzor sired another impressive two-year-old winner in England overnight when Filistine was successful at the second time of asking.

The Irish-bred colt had finished runner-up on debut earlier this month at Newmarket and returned there to stylishly go one better over 1400 metres in the hands of Frankie Dettori.

Sent off as a $1.80 favourite Filistine was challenged by well-bred Goldophin runner Silent Speech in the final furlong but responded well to Dettori's urging and was a cozy neck winner on the line.

Filistine is prepared by champion trainer John Gosden, who earlier this year was joined in partnership by his son Thady.

He is a son of the Lawman mare Desire To Win and she is a half-sister to the multiple Group winner and sire Don Bosco and the Listed winner Vodkato.

He was originally purchased for $57,500 at the Arqana Select Yearling Sale and was then knocked down for $227,500 to Charles Watson Bloodstock at the Arqana May 2YO Sale.
