Handsome colt Manzoice raced up to his looks at Rosehill where the Chris Waller-trained three-year-old opened his winning account in fine style to emerge as an exciting spring prospect.

The manner of the imposing son of Almanzor’s victory strongly suggested he can be a potent force in stronger age group company over more ground for trainer Chris Waller.

Manzoice had finished runner-up on debut at Wyong toward the end of last month and, against a more competitive line-up that included eight winners, went one better over 1300 metres in the hands of rider Kathy O’Hara.

He raced midfield on the fence and as runners fanned out in the straight he wound up powerfully along the rail to arrive in the nick of time.

The colt holds a nomination for the G1 Caulfield Guineas over 1600 metres on October 8 while the G1 Spring Champion Stakes over 2000 metres at Randwick on October 22 is also on the radar.

Bred by Stephanie Hole, he was purchased out of Bhima Thoroughbreds’ draft at the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale for A$340,000 by Waller Racing and Mulcaster Bloodstock.

Manzoice is a son of G3 Eulogy Stakes winner and multiple Listed placegetter Choice, a daughter of Mastercraftsman who made a return visit to Almanzor last season.
