Almanzor’s popularity continued at the Inglis Melbourne Premier Sale where his first crop were again star attractions.

The Cambridge Stud stallion’s progeny have been all the rage this year and that continued at Oaklands.

The Champion European 3YO of 2016, Almanzor has been the leading first-season sire by average at every major Australasian sale this year.

He topped the Melbourne premier division with four lots sold for AU$730,000 at an average of AU$182,500.

His top lot was knocked down for AU$360,000 to Gelagotis Racing, agent James Bester and the Osher Group of Victoria. The Bhima Thoroughbreds-offered colt is the first foal of the multiple winner and black type performer Angel In Bluejeans. It is the family of former Singapore Horse of the Year Infantry and Group 2 winners Beat The Fade and Dawn Dawn. Bred by Margaret Falconer and Ritchie Withworth's Ellesmere Thoroughbreds and J & M Cassin Family Trust.

The late Tavistock also enjoyed a good premier sale with nine lots sold for AU$1,412,000 at an average of AU$156,889.

His top-priced lot of AU$400,000 was offered by Maluka Thoroughbreds on behalf of Cambridge Stud and was purchased by the Hong Kong Jockey Club.

The colt is a half-brother to the Listed Carnarvon Stakes winner Never Back Down.

They are out of the Pivotal mare Steer The Stars and the family of the G1 Spinster Stakes winner Aruna.
