8 Oct 2020Almanzor’s popularity at the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale continued on the closing day of the Book 1 sale.
Almanzor's highest priced lot was a colt who realised 250,000 gns (NZ$515,000).
Offered by Haras de Saint Pair, he was purchased by prominent American agent Mike Ryan.
The colt is a half-brother to the black type winner Urwald and the family of Group 1 winners Masked Marvel and Waldpark.
Earlier in the sale colts had also sold for prices of 210,000 gns (NZ$433,000) and 185,000 gns (NZ$381,000) as well as a filly for 180,000 gns (NZ$371,000).
Over the three days, nine Almanzor representatives sold at an average of 141,667 gns (NZ$292,00) which saw him finish the sale as the leading first season sire by average.
