Almanzor filly earns black type20 Oct 2021

Almanzor has earned what promises to be the first of many black type credits with his lightly-tried daughter Queen Trezy hitting the mark in France overnight.

The Carlos and Yann Lerner-trained filly finished a gallant second in the G3 Prix des Reservoirs over 1600 metres at Deauville in the hands of Christophe Soumillon.

Queen Trezy was making only the third appearance of her career and a runaway victory at Lyon Parilly at her previous outing had earned the two-year-old an early and justified crack at a stakes race.

Lerner considers the filly to be Classic material next year and she has the pedigree to succeed at the top level. She is out of the G3 Prix de Flore winner In Clover, who has been a wonderful broodmare as she’s also the dam of the Group 1 winners in Call The Wind, With You and We Are.

Almanzor, who is serving a full book of quality mares at Cambridge Stud, has sired six individual winners from his first crop of Northern Hemisphere juveniles.
