Almanzor filly impresses at trials20 Dec 2021

Marvelouz made her second trial appearance this week and our daughter of Almanzor produced a professional display at Ellerslie to win her heat.

The juvenile filly had her first outing at Matamata last month and showed the benefit of that experience on Tuesday when she was successful over 700 metres under jockey Opie Bosson.

The Jamie Richards-trained Marvelouz was quickly into stride and sat three wide on the pace before responding strongly to hands and heels riding in the straight to score by three-quarters of a length.

Through Te Akau’s David Ellis, we purchased the filly in partnership with Haras d'Etreham from Curraghmore’s draft at New Zealand Bloodstock’s National Yearling Sale for $380,000.

She is a half-sister to black type winners Avisto, whose daughter Annavisto won the Listed Bendigo Guineas, and Celtic Tiger with their dam the stakes placed Exceed And Excel mare Miraculous Miss.

Marvelouz will now enjoy a short spell before returning to training with the Gr.2 Matamata Breeders' Stakes as a possible target.
