Almanzor filly’s sale makes wait worthwhile

Almanzor filly’s sale makes wait worthwhile8 Feb 2022

We had to call on deep reserves of patience for our daughter of Almanzor to hit the ring at the Inglis Classic Yearling Sale in Sydney, but she proved worth the wait when she realised a price A$340,000.

The filly, who was kindly offered on our behalf by Mike and Kate Fleming’s Bhima Thoroughbreds, was presented as Lot 659 and the penultimate entry in Book 1 at the Riverside Stables.

She drew widespread interest before the hammer fell with brothers Michael and Paul Moroney landing the prize.

The youngster is out of the unraced Rock Of Gibraltar mare Krsdahl, whose only foal to race is the multiple winner Milano, and as a branch of the famed Eight Carat family there is plenty of residual value on offer.

The dam is a daughter of the G1 Captain Cook Stakes winner Marquise with the G1 Arrowfield Stud Stakes winner Shower Of Roses and Hiyaam, successful in an edition of the G1 Vinery Stud Stakes, on an impressive pedigree page.

Krsdahl has an unraced Almanzor two-year-old and is in foal to Embellish.
