Almanzor finishes sale season strong5 Apr 2023

The recent run of results on the racetrack for our up and coming sire Almanzor was not lost on buyers at the Inglis Easter Yearling Sale in Sydney.

Our European Champion Three-year-old had four yearlings sell at the sale with a top price of $380,000 for a son of imported mare Indah.

The Sunlight Trust-bred colt is the second foal out of his well-related dam. She is a half-sister to European Gr.1 winner Ito and In Swoop as well as New Zealand Gr.3 winner Igraine. Given the international nature of the pedigree it was no surprise to see him go to the bid of Japense buyer I Yamazumi.

The colt was another Almanzor success story for Bhima Thoroughbreds who sold both Gr.1 winner Manzoice and Virtuous Circle, who ran second in the Gr.1 Australian Derby on the eve of the sale.

The Hunter Valley farm also recorded another big result at the sale when they sold an Almanzor filly out of Destined to Yu Long Investments for $340,000. The October-born filly had a pedigree to match her looks as she is a sibling to Gr.2 winner Fix.

A Cambridge Stud consigned filly out of Gr.1 Queensland Oaks place getter Zenella also sold for $340,000 to John Cordina's Summertime Holdings. The filly is a descendant of blue hen mare Eight Carat and her dam has already produced four winners from four to race including Listed winner Miss Ella.

The final lot to sell was a colt from the Little Avondale draft that went the way of Spicer Thoroughbreds for $160,000.

The four youngsters combined to gross $1,220,000 at an average of $305,000.
