The progeny of European Champion 3YO Almanzor are finding favour with Northern Hemisphere buyers. During yesterday's session of Tattersall’s December Foal Sale his youngsters were in hot demand.
He had a pair of fillies and two colts through the ring and they sold at an impressive average of NZ$176,750. This was more than double the day’s average and ensured his place as its leading first season sire.
Almanzor achieved a top price of NZ$263,812 following Blandford Bloodstock's purchase of his Overbury Stud-consigned daughter of Plume Rose. This is the family of multiple Group One winner and sire Peintre Celebre.
Almanzor's top colt was knocked down for just shy of NZ$180,000 to agent Jamie Railton. The youngster was offered by Plantation Stud and is out of the Fastnet Rock mare Fast Lily.
