Almanzor support continues in Sydney6 Feb 2021

Cambridge Stud and Haras d’Etreham have continued their support of their successful exciting young shuttle stallion Almanzor.

At the Inglis Classic Sale yesterday, they went to AU$400,000 for his son offered by Lime Country Thoroughbreds on behalf of breeder Jamieson Park.

The youngster is out of the Dubawi mare Perfect Offering, who is a three-time winning three-quarter-sister of Listed winner My Country.

Cambridge Stud Chief Executive Officer Henry Plumptre had inspected the colt at Jamieson Park and asked agent Jim Clarke for his on-site opinion and bid on their behalf.

“They share in the ownership of the stallion and Henry spoke to me and said that they’d seen this horse on the farm in New Zealand a number of times and they really liked him," Clarke said.

“I saw him on the farm (Lime Country) a few weeks ago and Henry asked for my thoughts and he was a lovely colt and I saw him again here and I thought he was one of the nicest physicals in the Sale.

“He is a big, strong-bodied horse, but he is very athletic for a big horse. He has got a lovely temperament and I saw him walk around the back ring here and he is a really laid-back customer, so he’s got all the credentials to be a really nice horse.

"He looks like he’s got some precocity to get up and run early enough for a European-bred horse and he certainly has the scope to improve into his classic year and beyond."

The colt will stay in Australia and be trained by Ciaron Maher and David Eustace.
