Almanzor youngster lights up ring at Magic Millions11 Jan 2022

The widespread appeal of the progeny of Almanzor was again highlighted early on the opening day of the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale when our colt was sold for A$440,000.

He was offered as Lot 12 on our behalf by Bhima Thoroughbreds and our heartfelt thanks go to Mike Fleming and his staff for the terrific job they did with the youngster.

Bidding opened at A$50,000 on the first of Almanzor’s second crop to go under the hammer at and yearling sale and quickly scaled the heights before Mulcaster Bloodstock and Waller Racing had the final say.

A half-brother to our winning Redoute’s Choice filly and Group performer Manchu, the colt is out of the unraced Shamardal mare Empress Cixi, whose Almanzor filly was sold to trainer Kelly Schweida at the Gold Coast last year for A$380,000.

The dam foaled a Kermadec filly this year and was served by Almanzor.

Empress Cixi is a sister to the French Group 2 winner, Group 1 performer and sire Ocovango while the third dam on the page is the G1 Ascot Fillies’ Mile winner Crystal Music, a daughter of Nureyev who also finished runner-up in the G1 Royal Ascot Coronation Stakes and the G1 Irish 1000 Guineas.
