Almanzor enjoyed another major auction ring result as New Zealand Bloodstock’s National Yearling Sale concluded with the final day of Book 2 trade.

The shuttle stallion’s son, Lot 968, entered the action early in the session and left with a $230,000 price tag on his head.

The colt was purchased by Raptors Thoroughbreds and BQ Sun, who were acting on the advice of New Zealand Bloodstock Sales Representative Alex Teng.

“He is by Almanzor, the flying sire of the moment, who had another winner last night in Australia. Everyone loves him as a stallion,” Teng said.

“Type-wise, this colt is really outstanding. He looks sharp, is athletic and is a great walker so he just ticks all of the boxes.”

The youngster was offered by Tony Rider’s Milan Park Stud and he was understandably thrilled with the outcome.

“He had 12 X-ray hits, so we knew he would be strong but not to that level, so it’s very nice to achieve this price,” he said.

“It was very exciting and I want to say thanks to both the purchasers and under bidders, who were very strong to the line, I really appreciate it.”

“NZB actually wanted him in Book 1, but we decided to hold him back as a big fish in a small pond and it worked.”

The colt is a son of the Danzero mare Our Foil and hails from the legendary Eight Carat family.
