Zabeel is the sire-of-the-dam of the One Thousand Guineas winners in both Australia and New Zealand this season, and both are by Fastnet Rock.
A few weeks ago the hugely-talented Atlantic Jewel (ex Regard, by Zabeel) won the 1000 Guineas-Gr.1 at Caulfield and today Planet Rock (ex Akris, by Zabeel) won the NZ 1000 Guineas-Gr.1 at Riccarton Park.
Zabeel’s season as a broodmare sire has also included Southern Speed’s win in the A$2.5m Caulfield Cup-Gr.1 during the Melbourne Spring Carnival.
The NZ 1000 Guineas also provided Cambridge Stud stallion Lucky Unicorn with his first Group One performer, with Capital Diamond (ex Diamond Smile, by Zabeel) finishing a game third in the feature behind Planet Rock and Abeautifulred.
