Another Group 1 for Wootton Bassett23 May 2021

Wootton Bassett was credited with his fourth individual Group 1 winner when Incarville triumphed in a thrilling edition of the Prix Saint-Alary at Longchamp in France.

The sire of our hugely-popular shuttle stallion Almanzor, Wootton Bassett’s daughter Incarville came off a runner-up finish in the G3 Prix Cleopatre to go one better in a driving finish under rider Christophe Soumillon.

“Besides her first run when she was unplaced, this filly has never run a bad race and definitely has a preference for soft ground, there is no doubt about that,” trainer David Smaga said.

“She has also improved with every run this season and is versatile regarding tactics. Christophe Soumillon gave her a great ride and we will be back in four weeks' time for the G1 Prix de Dianne.”

Almanzor is the leading representative of Wootton Bassett, who will shuttle to Coolmore in Australia this year, to date as a three-time Group 1 winner and Champion European three-Year-Old.
