Werther (Tavistock ex Bagalollies, by Zabeel) was dominant when scoring a length win in Saturday's Group Two Valachi Downs Championship Stakes (2100m) for a purse of $100,000 at Ellerslie.

The black type victory comes off the back of the Rosehill Guineas-Gr.1 (2000m) success scored by Volkstok'n'barrell (Tavistock ex Volkster, by Volksraad) over a middle distance last month.

Werther becomes the fourth individual Stakes Winner for Tavistock, the others being Volkstok'n'barrell (Gr.1, Gr.2 & Gr.3), Avisto (3 x LR) and Tavy (LR).

Meanwhile fellow Cambridge Stud stallion Keeper remains at the head of the respective New Zealand and Hong Kong Stallion Premierships for individual winners so far this season.

Keeper has had 45 winners in NZ so far this season, placing him three wins clear of O'Reilly.  In Hong Kong Keeper shares a three-way lead with Exceed and Excel and O'Reilly; their tally being ten winners apiece.
