Progressive staying mare Aquacade capped off a solid run of form for us this preparation with a super victory in the Dunstan Feeds Stayers’ Championship Final at Te Rapa.

Our homebred daughter of Dundeel has been expertly prepared by Lance Noble off our Karaka base and jockey Warren Kennedy gave the mare a dream ride in the trail.

“If you were writing a script before the race, that was exactly how you wanted it to be run – it worked out just perfectly,” Noble said.

Aquacade coasted along behind the leader before she was into the clear on straightening and stayed on strongly after striking the front 250 metres from home.

“She’s a very good staying mare and we’ve got the Auckland Cup at the back of our minds so we might pick a path there with a light weight,” Noble said.

“She’s a beautiful, big mare who has just needed a bit of time to mature and it’s a great result for everyone on the farm.”

Kennedy said the inside barrier had been a major plus and Aquacade took care of business in style.

“The draw helped a lot and we got a nice run with little effort. She quickened up really smartly and it’s fantastic to win in these colours.”

The winner of four of her 10 starts, Aquacade is out of the imported Sea The Stars mare Forest Of Seas and a family featuring European Group winners Self Defense, Sea Of Heartbreak and Puncher Clynch.

Forest of Sea produced a colt by Embellish in 2021 before missing the following season.
