Cambridge Stud may have doubled their hand in the Gr.1 New Zealand 1000 Guineas after Avadane’s Pukekohe success.

The Lance Noble-trained Bavella is a confirmed runner in the Classic and her stablemate may also now make the trip.

“She’s still in the 1000 Guineas so I’ll have a talk with everyone at the stud and decide whether she goes down,” he said.

“Her last run was good and she has been building toward this.”

Rider Leith Innes had Avadane on the leader’s quarters and when asked for an effort she proved too strong for her older rivals.

A daughter of Savabeel, Avadane is out of Brendan and Jo Lindsay’s broodmare star J’Adane.

She has left the Group Three winners Von Tunzelman, Sherrif and Prince Jabeel.

She is also the dam of Bucklebury, dam of recent runaway winner Bumper Blast.
