The conclusion of the racing season yesterday saw Zabeel crowned Champion Australian Broodmare Sire for the second season straight.
It was exactly the same result on this side of the Tasman with Zabeel winning the New Zealand Broodmare Sire Premiership for the second season in a row.
The results for Zabeel as a broodmare sire in Australia this season have been staggering. The progeny of his daughters have won no fewer than 9 Group One races. It’s a Dundeel lead the way with 4 Group One victories; Ocean Park had 3 while Commanding Jewel and Dear Demi made up the other pair of elite-level victories.
In New Zealand Ocean Park added two more Group One wins to his 2012-2013 tally, making Zabeel’s Group One list number 11 for the season just concluded.
