The Brendan and Jo Lindsay-bred Bumper Blast has returned to racing in a blaze of glory at Flemington and provided a further update for his Cambridge Stud based dam.

Off a six-month break, the Ocean Park four-year-old showed his quality with a sharp win this afternoon over 1000 metres.

Trained by Robert Hickmott, it was the grey’s fourth victory from just seven starts.

Bumper Blast has shown an affinity for Flemington, winning three of his races there, and now has spring aspirations.

"You'd love to set him for those Group 3 1400-metre races here over the carnival," Hickmott said.

"Fawkner did it, he won three of those races and this horse is a horse that profiles very similar to him.

"I'm not saying he's going to be a Caulfield Cup horse, but those 1400 races here, that's where he sits, I think.”

Hickmott previously prepared the multiple Group 1 winner Fawkner.

Bumber Blast is raced by Price Bloodstock, who bought him at Karaka for $48,000 from the Hallmark Stud draft.

He is the first foal out of Bucklebury, a More Than Ready daughter of top producer J'Adane.

J'Adane has also produced the Group 3 winners Von Tunzelman, Prince Jabeel and Sherrif.
