23 Nov 2015Cambridge Stud’s Snitzel filly Bavella turned heads with a slick 3 ¾ length win in the Listed Splice Construction Stakes (1100m) for 2YO’s at Pukekohe today.
Bred by Brendan and Jo Lindsay and trained by Lance Noble, Bavella hinted to possessing considerable ability a month ago when registering a debut win at Ellerslie.
Today’s win under jockey Leith Innes took her record to two-from-two and provided the perfect black-type start for her dam Zonza.
Zonza, herself a Gr.3 winning daughter of Zabeel, has had three foals to date, with Bavella being the elder sibling to a More Than Ready yearling filly and to a Tavistock colt who was born in September.
Zonza is back in foal to Tavistock.
Bavella represents the fourth stakes winner bred on the Snitzel/Zabeel cross, with other stakes winners from the 35 representatives here comprising Time For War, Lubiton and Perast.
