Bellacontte does Burgundy proud

Bellacontte spent her early months here at Cambridge Stud so we were thrilled to see her win the Listed O’Leary’s Fillies’ Stakes at Wanganui this afternoon.

Bred by Dr Kevin Chong, she was born on the farm and was sold to owner Ben Kwok as a foal at foot via the Gavelhouse platform.

Trained by Chrissy Bambry, the daughter of our late sire Burgundy has impressed during her fledgling career and was placed in the Listed Castletown Stakes last season before breaking her maiden at Hastings.

She doubled her tally today in the hands of regular rider Sarah Macnab when she finished resolutely off a handy sit to open her black-type account.

The three-year-old filly is out of the Tavistock mare Devon Doll and she is from a well-performed family that includes our own multiple Group 1 winner Probabeel and the three-time Group 2 winner and now sire Ocean Emperor.
