Tavistock 3YO Tavattack announced himself as one to watch for trainer Allan Sharrock with a smart debut win at Otaki on Monday.
“He won nicely. His forte is staying, so it was a very good effort to see him win fresh up over 1200m like that,” said Sharrock.
“He is everything you like to see in a horse. He’s a beautiful individual and his temperament is outstanding.
“When Jonathan Riddell came back to scale, he just said ‘What a gentleman’.
Tavattack will now have a short break, before what could be a exciting season ahead.
“I’d like to give him another race where he has a nice 3yo experience and then see if he can stretch out to the Autumn,. He could potentially target races like the Queensland Derby or the South Australian Derby,” said Sharrock.
Tavattack is raced by his breeders Brent and Grant McKenzie.
