Big Test For Zabeel 3YO

20 Oct 2011

Trainer Gai Waterhouse will throw the lightly-tried Power Broker (Zabeel ex Power and Grace, by Hennessy) into the deep end tomorrow when he steps out in the A$200,000 Moonee Valley Vase-Gr.2 (2040m) on Cox Plate Day.

Power Broker, who is nominated for the Victoria Derby next week, has raced only twice for a debut win (Kembla Grange) followed by a fifth placing in the Listed UCI Stakes at Flemington behind Isopach.

Power Broker is a graduate of the 2010 NZB Karaka Premier Sale, having been consigned by Cambridge Stud and purchased by Gai Waterhouse for $475,000.

Power Broker is a relative of one of Zabeel’s very best performers, Might and Power, with his second dam, Miss Priority, being a half-sister to the Cox Plate and Melbourne Cup winner.
