Black Type quinella for Tavistock first crop 2YOs

24 May 2014

It was a red-letter day for Cambridge Stud's young Montjeu stallion Tavistock yesterday at Ellerslie.

Tavistock had two runners in the Listed Graeme Thomson Jewellers Great Northern Foal Stakes and his representatives finished first and second in the 1400m juvenile feature.

The race was won by the filly Avisto (ex Miraculous Miss, by Exceed and Excel), with the gelding Midnitemagicman (ex Keep Alight, by Keeper) closing well for second.  Both horses appeared to relish the 1400m trip.

Tavistock, himself a dual Group One winner at 1400m, was the Leading NZ-based first-crop stallion at the 2013 New Zealand Bloodstock Karaka Premier Sale.

Tavistock has now had three individual winners from his first crop, namely Avisto, Longchamp and Amber Rayne.  His placegetters to date are Midnitemagicman and Werther.

Tavistock's fee for the 2014 Season has been set at $7,000 + gst (LFG), with payment not due till 30 June 2015.
