Blinkered approach works wonders

New look Strongbow doubled his winning tally when he outstayed his rivals over 2200 metres at the Sunshine Coast.

Sporting blinkers for the first time, the son of Tarzino reacted positively to the addition of headgear to claim his second career victory from a handful of starts for champion trainer Chris Waller.

The Cambridge Stud homebred lobbed along at the tail of the small field before rider James Orman urged him forward 700 metres from home and the lightly tried five-year-old finished resolutely to come over the top of his opposition.

Congratulations to Albert Bosma’s Go Racing who purchased Strongbow out of our New Zealand Bloodstock National Yearling Sale draft in 2020 for $130,000.

He is a son of the late Encosta De Lago mare Spring Venture, whose dam Lovetrista won the G2 Waikato Gold Cup and as a famed member of the Eight Carat has an impressive list of highly decorated performers in her pedigree.
