Emilia Romagna generated widespread interest when she went through the ring as a yearling and that interest looks well founded based on her convincing maiden win at Goulburn.

We bred the daughter of Pierro in partnership with David Brideoake, who trained her dam Griante to win the Gr.1 Galaxy Handicap, and she fetched $550,000 when offered at the Magic Millions Gold Coast yearling sale through the draft of Milburn Creek.

Racing in the colours of My Racehorse Australia, the Bjorn Baker trained two-year-old had shown promise at the trials her first preparation but was given a spell following two unplaced efforts.

Returning from a five month break at Goulburn, Emilia Romagna made a sweeping run from back in the field to surge down the centre of the track and take out the 1000 metre event by a widening two lengths.

Given the manner of her debut victory and the strength of her bloodlines it will be no surprise to see Emilia Romagna destined for bigger targets as a spring three-year-old.
