Burgundy three-year-old Brandenburg has met and matched the best of his age group and he’s now replicated that against older opposition.

This preparation, he has won the Gr.2 Hobartville Stakes and finished a sound third in the Gr.1 Randwick Guineas.

Trainer John Sargent then changed tack and aimed Brandenburg at the Gr.1 Doncaster Handicap.

Fourth in the Gr.1 George Ryder Stakes in his lead-up, the three-year-old performed with great merit at Randwick on Saturday.

The son of Burgundy steamed home in the straight to finish third and push his stake earnings beyond AUD$700,000.

Brandenburg’s run of form continues Sargent’s success with the gelding’s family.

He prepared half-sister Luvaluva to win the Gr.2 Wakeful Stakes and three Group Three contests.

Bred by Hunterville’s Christopher Grace, they are out of the Galileo mare Wansesingyee.
