Comanche Brave looks set for a lucrative summer campaign following a gallant first-up performance to add to his winning record at Sandown.

The lightly tried son of Sacred Falls, who was part of our Karaka draft in 2019, returned to competition yesterday and lumped 61kg to victory over 1500 metres in his first appearance since March.

Trained by Julius Sandhu at Cranbourne, Comanche Brave had to work hard to cross the field to lead from the outside gate and answered every call from rider Craig Newitt to post the third win of his eight-start career.

Bred by Max Whitby, he was purchased for $240,000 by agent Phill Cataldo and Michael Kent Jnr.

Comanche Brave is a half-brother to the Listed Castletown Stakes winner Stella Di Paco with their dam the Savabeel mare Savabeel Star.

A half-sister to the G3 Hawke’s Bay Guineas and Listed Wanganui Guineas winner Stardane, Savabeel Star was served last year by Almanzor.
