Favanna broke her maiden in fine style at Cranbourne and successful rider Jamie Mott expects our well-related filly to make her mark in better company.

Trained by Michael Moroney, the Fastnet Rock three-year-old was quickly into stride to sit in second spot and put the issue beyond doubt when she hit the front 200 metres from home.

“She bounced well and I was quietly confident on the corner,” Mott said.

“She was good and can definitely go on with it now.”

Favanna has been patiently handled and had placed in two of her previous four appearances before breaking through over 1200 metres.

We purchased the filly out of breeder B2B Thoroughbreds’ draft at the 2022 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale for A$600,000.

She is a daughter of the Love Conquers All mare Savanna Amour, who was a talented performer and won seven races including the G2 Angus Armanasco Stakes and was also successful three times at Group 3 level.

Savanna Armour is most notably from the family of the G1 Golden Slipper Stakes winner and successful sire Marauding.
