The lightly raced Zantabulous doubled her winning tally when she proved to be in a league of her own at Matamata and placed her on the short list for a trip to the Queensland winter carnival.

Our home-bred daughter of Almanzor was untouched to thump her Rating 65 rivals over 1400 metres and her second win in three starts for trainer Mark Walker.

Purchased at Karaka by Te Akau’s David Ellis for $220,000, Zantabulous was away well to settle fifth on the outer and when rider Opie Bosson asked her to lengthen stride into the straight she responded impressively to saunter home by a widening 4.3l.

“We’ve thought a bit of this filly for quite some time and she could head toward Brisbane in the winter,” Walker said.

“The spring didn’t quite to plan with her, but I’m sure she’s got a really good future.”

The grey three-year-old had been successful on debut in September before an enforced break and had finished a close fifth when resuming earlier this month before returning to winning ways.

Zantabulous is a daughter of the Zabeel mare Zantelagh, who was successful on three occasions and also the dam of two previous winners.

She is out of the former high-class sprinter Dantelagh, winner of eight races including an edition of the G1 Oakleigh Plate and also runner-up in the G1 Newmarket Handicap and the G1 Railway Handicap.
