Burgundy 3YO impresses on Debut28 Jan 2020

Burgundy’s three-year-old son Rum had shown promise at the trials and he didn’t disappoint his supporters on his racecourse debut. Backed into heavy favouritism he skipped clear for a dominant win at Hastings.

Rum was bred by Wealleans Bloodstock and purchased by his trainer Shaune Ritchie for $105,000 from the Milan Park draft at the 2018 New Zealand Bloodstock Karaka Yearling Sale.

Ritchie has continued to support the progeny of Burgundy this week at Karaka, signing the ticket for two colts by the sire. During Book One he purchased lot 615, a colt out of Game Duchess, for $50,000 from Cambridge Stud and followed that up with the purchase of lot 714, a colt out of Likeapins, for $21,000 from the Brighthill Farm draft in Book Two.
