29 Nov 2019Te Akau Racing has a sharp youngster and a genuine Karaka Million contender in the shape of Burgundy 2YO Bordeaux Le Rouge.
Importantly, the two-year-old also has winning experience at Ellerslie following a promoted victory there in today’s Executive Travel 2YO.
Bordeaux Le Rouge had crossed the line second behind the Cambridge stud- raced Taroni, who was on debut.
The siren sounded soon after the finish and a subsequent inquiry reversed the result as Taroni was deemed to have caused interference near the post.
Bordeaux Le Rouge was bred by Richards and Te Akau Stud and was offered at Karaka through Phoenix Park’s draft.
The son of the O’Reilly mare De La Vere was bought back by David Ellis for $20,000.
The dam is a half-sister to the multiple winner and Group performer Quick Lip.
It is also the family of the Gr.1 George Main Stakes winner Ma Chiquita and the Gr.1 Captain Cook Stakes winner Jury’s Out.
