Call Me Al too good again

Call Me Al too good again22 Nov 2023

It’s been satisfying to see Jo-Anne Dalton-trained Call Me Al in such good recent form.

He was a winner two runs back before he was beaten at Gore where he was unable to get clear galloping room, but he has bounced back again on his home track at Ascot Park.

We bred the four-year-old and our congratulations to our good friends who race the son of Almanzor, the Harper and Kilkelly families.

Ridden by Samantha Wynne, Call Me Al settled fourth last and picked up ground along the fence to be in the hunt on the turn and rounded off strongly at the end of 1600 metres to win by a length and a-half.

He is a out of the Fastnet Rock mare Sure Enough who is out of a sister to the G1 Belmont Futurity Stakes winner and sire Whywhywhy and the family of the G1 Santa Anita Oaks winner Crisp.

We also bred and sold a brother to Call Me All for $42,000 to John Corcoran at New Zealand Bloodstock’s National Weanling Sale and he later realised $220,000 as a yearling at Karaka where he was offered by Grangewilliam Stud.

He was purchased by Andrew Campbell Bloodstock and Busuttin Racing while our Almanzor-Sure Enough filly sold to Queensland’s KPW Bloodstock earlier this year for $150,000.
