Cambridge Stud Broodmare Band Adds Six Mares5 May 2019

Henry Plumptre rounded out a successful week in Sydney buying six mares on behalf of Cambridge Stud.

The Stud struck first at the Inglis Chairman’s Elite Breeding Prospects Sale, buying the Listed Waikato Sprint winner Untamed Diamond (Snitzel) and the Gr.2 winner Kelly O’Reilly (O’Reilly) for $200,000 each.

Untamed Diamond is a maiden mare has been pencilled in to visit Almanzor.
Trained by Tony Pike, Kelly O’Reilly is the winner of the Gr.2 Auckland Thoroughbred Breeders’ Stakes and is in foal to Russian Revolution.

Kelly O’Reilly will be covered by Cambridge Stud’s new Tweenhills Stud shuttler Roaring Lion (Kitten’s Joy).
Four mares were then purchased at the Inglis Australian Broodmare Sale.

The Group 3-winning mare Diamond Earth (Choisir) was purchased for $160,000 to support Almanzor (Wootton Bassett), while another acquisition – the black-type producer Danahere (Dehere) - is also bound for a date with the stallion after Plumptre secured her for $135,000.

Rounding out the stud’s purchases was the half-sister to a Gr.1 producer in Pass The Post for $80,000 and the well-related Lonhro mare Fearless Choice for $70,000.
