Caminata completes quick-fire double17 Oct 2021

Progressive mare Caminata completed a double for us at Rotorua today when she powered to victory to remain unbeaten this preparation.

The four-year-old followed the winning lead in the previous race of Funny Girl for trainer Lance Noble while our Darci Brahma mare Caminata is in the care of Tony Pike.

She had broken her maiden on a heavy track at Tauranga last month and handled much improved underfoot conditions this afternoon with aplomb to emphasise her versatility.

Caminata sat at the back of the main bunch before improving across the top and she unleashed an irresistible finish in the closing 300 metres under the urging of rider Michael McNab. She now owns the tidy record of two wins and seven placings from nine outings.

A sister to the Listed Tauranga Classic winner Summer’s Day, we secured Caminata out of Woburn Farm’s draft for $80,000 at New Zealand Bloodstock Yearling Sale.

She is out of the Fusaichi Pegasus mare One Perfect Day, a daughter of the G1 Railway Handicap and dual Group 2 winner Cannsea. The third dam Beachside was also twice successful at Group 2 level in the Wakeful Stakes and the Newcastle Gold Cup.
