Cape Blanco arrives in NZ next week

16 Aug 2012

The five time Group One winner Cape Blanco is scheduled to arrive at Cambridge Stud late next week and will be seen out in public for the first time at the Waikato Breeders’ Stallion Tour on Saturday, 25 August.

By Galileo, also the sire of the freakish Frankel (unbeaten in 12 outings to date), Cape Blanco comes to New Zealand with an outstanding international race record.  He was a dual Group Race winner as a juvenile; a dual Group One winner at three and a multiple Grade One winner at four.

Cape Blanco started three times in America as a four-year-old, all on turf and all at Grade One level, and he won the lot; the Man o’ War Stakes, Arlington Million and Joe Hirsch Turf Classic.  He is an Eclipse Award winner, having been voted the Champion USA Turf Horse of 2011.

While Cape Blanco won all of his Group One races on turf, he did contest the US$10m Dubai World Cup on dirt and ran a courageous fourth against the best horses in the world.  To view that performance on YouTube CLICK HERE.
