America’s prestigious 2011 Eclipse Awards for racetrack excellence saw Cambridge Stud’s new shuttle horse Cape Blanco named the Champion USA Turf Horse.
Cape Blanco was a clear winner of the category with 172 votes, with Acclamation (3 x Gr.1 & 2 x Gr.2 victories during 2011) his nearest rival with 55 votes.
Aidan O’Brien lined Cape Blanco up three times in America last year and he won the lot, all on grass and all at Grade One level; namely the Man o’ War Stakes, Arlington Million and Joe Hirsch Turf Classic.
Cape Blanco retired with a record of 9 wins & 1 second from 15 starts & prize money of US$4,182,950.
