Cape Blancos sire has 7 Gr.1 winners in 2013

Galileo, the sire of Cambridge Stud’s big-name second season horse Cape Blanco, has the distinction of having sired 7 Group One winners this calendar year alone.

 

For the record the horses concerned are

 

Ruler of the World, Epsom The Derby

Magician, Curragh Irish 2000 Guineas

Intello, Chantilly Prix du Jockey Club

Altano, Longchamp Prix du Cadran

Romantica, Deauville Prix Jean Romanet

Seville, ATC Metropolitan Handicap

Linton, BRC Stradbroke Handicap

 

The list of Group One success has been spread across 4 different countries; England, Ireland, France and Australia.  Galileo leads the 2013 Stallion Premierships in Great Britain and Ireland, while he is in second position on the France Premiership.

 

Two of Galileo’s sire sons, New Approach and Teofilo, have sired five Group One winners in 2013 between them.

 

New Approach (Galileo ex Park Express, by Ahonoora) has sired two Group One winners this calendar year, namely Dawn Approach (Newmarket 2000 Guineas) and Talent (Epsom The Oaks).

 

Teofilo (Galileo ex Speirbhean, by Danehill) has done even better with three Group One winners in 2013, namely Trading Leather (Curragh Irish Derby), Havana Gold (Chantilly Prix Jean Prat) and Voleuse de Coeurs (Curragh Irish St Leger).
