The progeny of daughters of Zabeel have won close to A$12m in the current season in Australia alone according to figures provided by Arion Pedigrees. It’s a tally which sees Zabeel clearly lead the Broodmare Sire Premiership in that country.
In exact terms, Zabeel is the sire of the dams of the winners of A$11,747,841 this season in Australia, a sum which comes about from 182 individual winners of 291 races.
Southern Speed (Caulfield Cup-Gr.1) is the leading earner and one of three Group One winners from Zabeel mares this season in Australia, the other two being Atlantic Jewel (All Aged Stakes-Gr.1 & Thousand Guineas-Gr.1) and Invest (Schweppes Oaks-Gr.1). Zabeel is the dam sire of 13 individual black type winners in Australia this season.
Zabeel looks set to add the New Zealand Broodmare Sire Premiership to his list of achievements this season and his figures at home amount to NZ$2,590,324, derived from 64 individual winners of 110 races (9 individual stakes winners).
Zabeel is the dam sire of two Group One winners in New Zealand this season, namely Silent Achiever (NZ Derby-Gr.1) and Planet Rock (1000 Guineas-Gr.1 and NZB 3YO Filly of the Year).
For the record, Zabeel has not won a Broodmare Sire Premiership in any previous season.
