Cambridge Stud celebrated Melbourne Cup day with a Trans-Tasman double.

Stakes performer Familia won at Ellerslie while Valanetti was successful at Echuca.

Talented mare Familia posted a deserved victory after finishing runner-up at her two previous starts.

The Lance Noble trained four-year-old settled in the trail for rider Leith Innes and once into the clear in the straight put the issue beyond doubt.

She has now won three times and showed her quality last season when third in the G3 Bonecrusher Stakes. She will now get another chance to tackle Stakes company following this win.

A home-bred daughter of Makfi, Famila is the first foal of the High Chaparral mare Enjay. Enjay has an Ocean Park yearling colt entered for Karaka next year and recently produced a foal by Almanzor.

Valanetti is trained by Mick Price and Michael Kent Jnr and is a lightly-tried filly.

She was making the third appearance of her career and scored over 1400 metres for rider Zac Spain.

A A$340,000 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale buy from the Amarina Farm draft, Valanetti is a daugher of Sebring and G1 winner Gallica.

Gallica was trained by Mick Price to victory in the G1 Thousand Guineas and G1 Schweppes Oaks.
