Cups aim for Gobstopper

Well-related Tavistock gelding Gobstopper ran his rivals ragged at Te Rapa on Monday, prompting trainer Andrew Campbell to consider plotting a path to a feature staying event.

Aided by a confident front-running ride from apprentice Tim Johnson, the brother to the dual Hong Kong Group One winner Werther recorded his second consecutive win when successful in Monday's SkyCity Hamilton Waikato Cup 10th December 2100.

"He's coming of age this horse," Campbell said. "We might try and sneak him into a cup race now with a light weight." - NZ Racing Desk
