Progressive three-year-old Defining produced a powerhouse performance at Oakbank and an effort that stamped the three-year-old as a future black-type contender.

We bred the daughter of Not A Single Doubt and congratulations go to Mitchell Bloodstock and G1 Goldmine, who secured her out of our New Zealand Bloodstock National Yearling Sale draft for $250,000.

She has now won two of her four starts for trainers Tony and Calvin McEvoy with the promise of more to come following her runaway victory at Oakbank.

Defining settled off the pace before rider Barend Vorster urged her on a wide run before the turn and she thundered down the outside of the track to win going away by 5.1l.

She is a daughter of the Encosta De Lago mare Seduced, who was a two-time winner and finished third in the G3 Matron Stakes. She is out of the G3 Thoroughbred Breeders’ Stakes winner Dama De Noche.

A half-sister to multiple black-type winner Nocturnelle, Seduced unfortunately missed to Epaulette and Almanzor in recent seasons but is currently in foal to Embellish, our Group 1-winning son of Savabeel.
