Defining moment in filly’s career

Defining moment in filly’s career27 Mar 2022

Our Karaka yearling graduate Defining produced a sizzling performance at Murray Bridge to street her rivals over 1200 metres.

The Tony and Calvin McEvoy-trained daughter of Not A Single Doubt was making her third appearance and, off the back of a runner-up finish when resuming at Warrnambool, she was sent out a short-priced favourite.

The three-year-old Defining kept the leaders within her sights and rider Barend Vorster had a sticky moment into the straight before he got the filly clear and then she turned on the afterburners to streak away and win by a widening 4.6l.

We sold Defining at New Zealand Bloodstock’s National Yearling Sale for $225,000 to Mitchell Bloodstock and G1 Goldmine.

She is a daughter of the Encosta De Lago mare Seduced, who was a dual winner and finished third in the G3 Matron Stakes, and she is out of the G3 Thoroughbred Breeders’ Stakes winner Dama De Noche.

A half-sister to multiple black-type winner Nocturnelle, Seduced unfortunately missed to Epaulette and Almanzor in recent seasons but is currently in foal to Embellish.
