Double For Zabeel at Sha Tin

16 Oct 2009

Zabeel was represented by two winners at the Sha Tin meeting in Hong Kong on Saturday, with Berio (Zabeel ex Abbaye, by Ahonoora) taking out the HK$1.4m Class One feature on the programme.

BerioBerio was bred by Cambridge Stud and races from the stable of the astute Australian-born conditioner David Hall.  He clocked a brilliant 1.21.37 to win the 1400 metres Broadwood Handicap, taking his record to 4 wins & 6 placings from just 14 starts.

Berio, a five-year-old, is from the Ahonoora mare Abbaye, herself a half-sister to successful racehorses and sires Danewin and Commands, respectively.

The other winner for Zabeel at Sha Tin was Mighty Sun, a five-year-old bred by The Oaks Stud, who scored by nearly five lengths in the Class 4 Sun Wui Handicap.

Mighty Sun is a half-brother to the Epsom Handicap winner Excellerator (by Marscay) and the stakes-placed Consolidator (by Marscay).
