Double strike for Tavistock

Double strike for Tavistock18 Feb 2021

Tavistock landed a winning double at Canberra with a pair of progressive 3-year-old prospects.

Molly Nails started the ball rolling when she triumphed in the Guineas Preview for trainer Matthew Dale.

Runner-up on debut, the filly has now won her last two starts on the bounce for her owner/breeder Fergus Doyle.

Molly Nails is a daughter of the Listed Wellesley Stakes and G3 Eclipse Stakes runner-up Maritimo.

Tavistock’s double was completed by the John Sargent-trained Favreau.

It was the first success for the lightly-raced gelding and although he remained a maiden through the spring he gave an indication of his promise when fifth in the G1 Spring Champion Stakes.

Favreau races in the colours of Aquis Farm, who purchased him in conjunction with DGR Thoroughbreds and Sargent Racing for $230,000 as a yearling at Karaka.

He is out of the two-time Group 2 winner and multiple group 1 placegetter Lady Kipling.

She is also the dam of Fascino, successful in the G2 Moonee Valley Fillies’ Classic.
