Cambridge Stud’s Get Hitched hasn’t wasted any time in opening her New Zealand account with a winning run at Matamata.

The Lonhro filly followed up a trial success with an authoritative victory over 1200 metres under Opie Bosson.

They were caught wide early before slotting in two off the fence and Get Hitched lengthened stride impressively in the straight.

“It looked like it was going to be a bit sticky, but Opie is riding in a great vein of form,” trainer Jamie Richards said.

“The key to her was an easing of the ground. I made a mistake in running her at Rotorua, but here we are now and a great result.”

Richards was referring to Get Hitched’s New Zealand debut when she ran third on a Good 3 track.

“We’ll look to get a bit of black type with her, she’s got a good pedigree and is a really good sort,” Richards said.

Get Hitched was initially prepared by Team Hawkes before she was relocated.

Get Hitched was bred by Jamieson Park and is a daughter of Wedding, who is a half-sister to stakes winners Handfast and Rusambo.

The second dam Love Dance was the dual Group One winner of the Kelt Capital Stakes and the Avondale Gold Cup.
