Early winning strike for well-bred filly

Early winning strike for well-bred filly10 Sep 2023

Ima Brazen One lived up to her rich pedigree with victory at the first time of asking.

Our homebred daughter of Brazen Beau looked good in winning a lead-up trial and confirmed that promise with her debut success over 1200 metres at Waverley.

Ima Brazen One is prepared by Michael Breslin and sat back from an outside gate in a small field before picking up ground near the turn and the three-year-old lengthened stride impressively in the straight to space her older rivals for rider Kozzi Asano.

The filly, who holds a nomination for the G1 New Zealand 1000 Guineas, was purchased by her Awapuni-based trainer for $100,000 out of our class of 2022 at New Zealand Bloodstock’s National Yearling Sale.

A half-sister to multiple Australian winner Virgo, Ima Brazen One is a daughter of the winning More Than Ready mare Imanana who foaled a colt by Sword Of State this month and will return to our son of Snitzel.

Imanana is out of the former top race mare Imananabaa whose five career victories featured the G1 Railway Stakes and the Listed Soliloquy Stakes.
