Contrition has opened her autumn campaign in the best possible style with success at Wangaratta.

The Tavistock three-year-old returned over a mile on Sunday and was a runaway winner in her first appearance for four months.

Rider Michael Walker kept her back in the field before rounding off strongly to put a space on their rivals in the run home.

The Cambridge Stud graduate has now won two of her four starts for Caulfield trainers Mick Price and Michael Kent Junior.

A daughter of the late Tavistock, Contrition was a $35,000 Karaka purchase and is out of Repenting.

Tavistock’s progeny have been in rare form of late to emphasise what a loss he is to the industry.

He has produced nine winners in four countries in the last eight days, including the promising Playoffs.

Trained by Ciaron Maher and David Eustace, he was successful at Terang last time out.

The lightly-raced three-year-old was also purchased from the Cambridge Stud draft at Karaka and is a possible G1 South Australian Derby contender.
