Embellish’s promising son Bold Soul doubled his winning tally with success at Flemington and a performance that strongly suggests he can make his mark in black type age group company.

The three-year-old had won on debut for trainer Patrick Payne before consecutive thirds at Caulfield and he relished the step up to 2000 metres under a bold ride from Daniel Stackhouse.

Bold Soul settled third last in a slowly run race before Stackhouse made a mid-race move to sit in second spot and he held a strong gallop in the straight to defy his opposition.

“He started to get a bit aggressive when the tempo went out of the race, so I improved to get outside the leader without spending a penny,” he said.

“He went through his gears well and will get over more ground.

“He’s still green and raw and that was his first time at 2000 metres so the more racing the better for him.”

Bold Soul is the last foal of the now retired Singspiel mare Twin Soul and was bred by Lou Te Keeti.

He was sold at New Zealand Bloodstock’s National Yearling Sale for $20,000 to Wanganui horseman Hamish Auret and subsequently relocated to Payne’s Victorian operation.
