Favouritism rests easily with Tavistock mare23 Mar 2022

Tavi With Me was backed by an army of supporters at Pukekohe Park and widespread expectation didn’t weigh heavily on the daughter of Tavistock.

The David Greene-trained four-year-old duly completed a course and distance double having broken her maiden on the track over 2100 metres at her previous appearance.

Sent off at even money, Tavi With Me settled at the back of a small field before she improved wide near the turn for apprentice Rahul Beemud and was far too good in the closing 200 metres to cruise home by 1.8l.

Bred by Sir Patrick and Lady Hogan, she is the first foal of the Redoute’s Choice mare Abidewithme, a talented performer who won nine time, including the G2 Travis Stakes and the G2 Tauranga Stakes and was a multiple Group 1 placegetter.

She is a half-sister to stakes winners Stockman and Miss Scarlatti with their dam the G2 Championship Stakes winner Crimson.

Abidewithme’s third foal was purchased at Karaka by Te Akau for $100,000 and is an unraced Almanzor juvenile named Kriminal while the mare’s Almanzor colt yearling sadly died.

She foaled a son to the Triple Crown winner Justify last season before she was served by Lonhro.
